Stinger EZ-Aer 25 25-Inch Hydrostatic Walk-Behind Aerator The EZ-Aer 25 is the wider of Stinger’s two single-hydro EZ-Aer aerators. It cuts a 25-inch path, and Stinger rates it at about 1 acre per hour at its 4 mph forward speed. A Kohler CV224 rated at 7 hp drives the hydrostatic transmission and the segmented tines. Removable Weights on the EZ-Aer 25 The EZ-Aer 25 weighs 255 lb on its own and 329 lb with its weights installed, so the weight set accounts for 74 lb. The weights come off before the machine is loaded, and four lifting handles on the frame let two people share the lift. Folding the handlebars forward brings the length down from 52 inches to 38. EZ-Aer 25 Maintenance Intervals The hydrostatic transmission is maintenance-free, so routine care centers on the engine and the drive. Change the oil within the first month or 10 hours, then every six months or 50 hours, and clean or replace the air filter every three months or 25 hours. Inspect the drive belt every 100 hours or once a year; it should deflect 1/4 to 3/8 inch at its center when tensioned. The chain gets the same amount of slack, checked daily for the first week and weekly after that, with chain lube every week. The tines can stay down through most turns, and a depth spacer on each side sets cores up to 3 inches deep. Lift the tines before crossing pavement, roots or other hard ground. Stepping Up From the EZ-Aer 19 Both EZ-Aer models share the Kohler engine, the single-hydro drive and the folding handles. The 25 is 6 inches wider overall (34 against 28 inches), cuts a swath 6 inches wider, and covers about a third more ground each hour.
